The majority of young people in Western culture find it so at times, because of peer group pressures and of the transition from child to adult, which is gradual. But it is also a time of excitement and adventure for many of them. It is a time of hope and opportunity for some as they learn new skills (in school, social skills, at work perhaps). And it is the first time in our lives when we have a measure of independence from our parents. For most of us this is simultaneously thrilling and scary.
Some young people, though, find it much easier than childhood was. They were the most mmature & never fitted in as kids because their minds were already more adult.
